Art Madrid: reference of the spanish art

      Art Madrid, the art fair that for eight years has been overshadowing to Arco offering an alternative program and choosing a selection in a smaller and accesible space, now, with its new location in the attic of the Chamartín station, have overcome its expectations.

Myself, whenever I visit an art fair, I like discovering some new artist, delight myself with some name I admire and enjoy a leisurely and relaxed tour.

     To do this, I think it is essential, to be able to visit the fair without much effort. A visit to exceed two hours in an area unattractive and confusing is not particularly seductive. This is not the case in Art Madrid. Its new location is a area who toning the Art with its vaulted rooms. Another point in its favor is its easy access and good infrastructure.

     We started well. But remain us the most important. The Art. How is curated? When I came in the enclosure, the work of a young artist named Edgar Plans, catch my attention. First of all I think is in Basquiat but his technique is more colorful and with certain similitude to the art brut and the comic. A good first impression. I follow the hallway and start for the area reserved for young art. One Project is an open space where some artists under 45 years exhibit their work. Some interesting proposals. Names like Evelyn Hellenschmidt, Manolo Oyonarte or Robert Ferrer i Martorell, called my attention.

     What’s more, one of the greatest attractions of the fair is to have the chance to see the works of the great names of contemporary Spanish art and the historic vanguards. The best claim for international buyers considering that we have some of the best artists of the world scene. Picasso, Tàpies, Valdés, Saura, Barceló, Mompó, Miró and Dalí among others. Some international names also. Such is the case of Karel Appel, Le Corbusier, Sonia Delaunay, Louise Bourgeois or Damien Hirst, to give an example.

     In conclusion, this format fair promises continuity and more excitement and bigger expectation because have been combine all the resources necessary to attract collectors and simple admirers. For all those who missed this meeting, they have a new opportunity in November this year.

      Art Madrid, la feria de arte que desde hace ocho años ha estado haciéndole sombra a Arco ofreciendo un programa alternativo y decantándose por una selección cuidada en un espacio más reducido y accesible, ahora, con su nueva ubicación en el ático de la estación de Chamartín, ha conseguido superar sus expectativas.

     Las mías propias, siempre que visito una feria de Arte, suelen tener que ver con descubrir algún artista nuevo, deleitarme con algún nombre conocido que admiro y disfrutar de un recorrido pausado y relajado.

     Para ello, me parece imprescindible ser capaz de recorrer la feria sin demasiado esfuerzo. Una visita que supere las dos horas en un espacio poco atractivo y confuso no es en principio especialmente seductor. Este no es el caso de Art Madrid. Su nueva ubicación es un recinto que entona con el arte con sus salas abovedadas. Otro punto a su favor es su fácil acceso y buena infraestructura.

     Comenzamos bien. Pero nos queda lo más importante. El Arte. ¿Cómo está comisariado? Nada más entrar las obras de un artista joven de nombre Edgar Plans captan mi atención. Lo primero que se me viene a la mente es Basquiat pero su técnica es más colorista y con cierta semejanza hacia el arte bruto y el cómic. La primera impresión es buena. Sigo por el pasillo y comienzo por el área reservada para el arte joven. One Project es un espacio diáfano donde algunos artistas menores de 45 años exponen sus obras. Algunas propuestas interesantes. Nombres como Evelyn Hellenschmidt, Manolo Oyonarte o Robert Ferrer i Martorell, llaman mi atención.

     Por si fuera poco, uno de los mayores atractivos de la feria es tener la ocasión de contemplar las obras de los grandes nombres del arte español contemporáneo y las vanguardias históricas. El mejor reclamo para compradores internacionales teniendo en cuenta que contamos con algunos de los mejores artistas de la escena mundial. Picasso, Tàpies, Valdés, Saura, Barceló, Mompó, Miró o Dalí entre otros. También algunos nombres internacionales. Tal es el caso de Karel Appel, Le Corbusier, Sonia Delaunay, Louise Bourgeois o Damien Hirst, por poner algún ejemplo.

     En conclusión, este formato de feria promete continuidad y mayor expectación porque han sabido aunar todos los recursos necesarios para atraer a coleccionistas y simples admiradores. Para los que se han perdido esta cita, tienen una nueva oportunidad en Noviembre de este año.
